      Position Title:     Contract Allied Health Instructor (Medical Assistant / Phlebotomy Technician)
      Classification:    Hourly/Full Time
      Supervised By:  Vice President of Mission Services and Director Workforce Development 
       
      NOTE: Grants support this position.  This position’s establishment and continuance may be dependent upon on-going grant funding.
       
      General Responsibilities:
       
      We are seeking a knowledgeable, engaging, and student-focused Contract Allied Health Instructor to deliver high-quality training that prepares students for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) and Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) examinations.
      The ideal candidate will combine practical clinical expertise with a passion for workforce development, ensuring students gain both the hands-on technical skills and the theoretical knowledge required to excel in modern healthcare environments.
       
      Essential functions include (but are not limited to):
      • Deliver comprehensive lectures and facilitate hands-on laboratory sessions covering clinical medical assisting and phlebotomy procedures.
      • Train students in core NHA-aligned competencies, including venipuncture, capillary punctures, specimen processing, EKG administration, patient vital signs, infection control, and clinical workflows.
      • Ensure rigorous adherence to safety protocols, OSHA guidelines, and HIPAA regulations during all laboratory activities.
      • Manage lab inventory, ensuring equipment and supplies are utilized safely and efficiently.
      Student Assessment & Support
      • Evaluate student progress through practical skill check-offs, quizzes, and mock certification exams.
      • Provide constructive, timely feedback and individualized coaching to support students of diverse learning backgrounds.
      • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, academic performance, and skill competencies.
      Exam Preparation & Compliance
      • Prepare students thoroughly for the format, content, and expectations of the NHA CCMA and CPT exams.
      • Stay updated on current NHA certification standards, testing blueprints, and industry best practices.
      Qualifications
      • Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of recent, hands-on clinical experience as a Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy Technician, Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in an outpatient or ambulatory care setting.
      • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or formal diploma from an accredited allied health program preferred.
      Certifications (Must be current)
      • Active NHA certification as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) and/or Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT), OR an equivalent recognized credential (e.g., CMA-AAMA, RMA-AMT).
      • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification.
      Skills & Competencies
      • Demonstrated mastery of venipuncture techniques, specimen handling, and clinical rooming workflows.
      • Excellent public speaking, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
      • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a blended schedule of theoretical instruction and fast-paced lab practice.
      • Proficiency with basic educational technology (e.g., Learning Management Systems, projector systems, or presentation software).
      Instructional Skills
      • Strong communication and presentation abilities
      • Ability to develop lesson plans and instructional materials
      • Experience with adult learning principles and adapting teaching methods to diverse learners
      • Skill in assessing student progress and providing constructive feedback

      • Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities
