Contract Litigation Secretary
Direct Counsel is seeking an experienced Litigation Secretary for a contract opportunity with no defined end date. This role will support a busy litigation team and requires a candidate who can hit the ground running, manage multiple priorities, and operate effectively in a fast-paced legal environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to litigation attorneys
- Prepare, format, and proofread legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and correspondence
- File documents in state and federal courts, including e-filing
- Manage attorney calendars, deadlines, and court appearances
- Coordinate depositions, hearings, and meetings
- Maintain and organize case files (electronic and physical)
- Handle client communications and ensure timely follow-up
- Assist with trial preparation, including exhibit binders and filings
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a litigation secretary or legal assistant
- Strong knowledge of state and federal court filing procedures
- Proficiency with e-filing systems
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting multiple attorneys in a high-volume litigation practice
- Familiarity with case management software
- Trial preparation experience
