    Job Description

    **POSITION TITLE: **Contract Review Engineer

    Position Summary:

The Contract Review Engineer supports the technical, quality, manufacturing, and commercial review of customer contracts, purchase orders, statements of work, specifications, drawings, and related requirements within the aerospace and automotive industries.

This is an engineering-driven position. The successful candidate must be able to understand and evaluate customer requirements from an engineering and manufacturing perspective, while also considering quality requirements, manufacturability, risk, cost, and overall profitability.

Engineering requirements and quality requirements, along with manufacturability and profitability, are paramount to this role. The Contract Review Engineer will help determine not simply whether a requirement can be met, but whether it can be met consistently, efficiently, compliantly, and profitably.

A Mechanical Engineering or Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering background is strongly preferred. Candidates should have meaningful experience working in an engineering, manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, defense, or similarly technical environment.

Practical experience with sheet metal forming and punching is highly desirable, particularly within an aerospace or automotive manufacturing environment.

Experience with MCL (Materials Control Laboratory) processes and training associated with Pratt & Whitney is highly desirable. Prior MCL experience is not mandatory, however, and MCL training can be provided to the right candidate.

The Contract Review Engineer is expected to evaluate customer commitments through four primary lenses:

    1. Engineering — Can we technically meet the customer's requirements?
    2. Quality — Can we consistently meet the required quality, inspection, documentation, traceability, and compliance requirements?
    3. Manufacturability — Can we manufacture the product efficiently and repeatably using realistic processes, equipment, resources, and capabilities?
    4. Profitability — Can we fulfill the requirements while maintaining an acceptable cost structure, margin, and overall business case?

    Responsibilities:

    • Review customer contracts, purchase orders, statements of work, specifications, drawings, and related technical documentation.
    • Evaluate customer requirements from engineering, quality, manufacturing, and commercial perspectives.
    • Identify requirements that may introduce technical, quality, manufacturing, financial, schedule, or compliance risks.
    • Ensure engineering and quality requirements are clearly understood before customer commitments are accepted.
    • Review requirements related to product design, materials, processes, inspection, testing, documentation, traceability, configuration control, certifications, and customer approvals.
    • Evaluate manufacturability, including the practicality of sheet metal forming, punching, fabrication, and related manufacturing processes where applicable.
    • Evaluate the manufacturing implications of material selection, part geometry, tolerances, forming requirements, punching requirements, tooling, and production volumes.
    • Consider the profitability implications of customer requirements, including requirements that may create additional labor, material, inspection, tooling, engineering, quality, or administrative costs.
    • Identify conflicts, ambiguities, omissions, or unusual requirements within customer documentation and coordinate their resolution.
    • Support the identification and flow-down of customer requirements to internal departments and suppliers.
    • Work collaboratively with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Program Management, and other applicable functions during the contract review process.
    • Support compliance with customer-specific requirements and applicable industry standards.
    • Learn and apply MCL requirements and procedures associated with Pratt & Whitney if prior training or experience is not already present.
    • Maintain appropriate documentation and records associated with contract review activities.
    • Perform other duties as assigned in support of engineering, manufacturing, quality, and business objectives.

    Skills and Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline strongly preferred.
    • Meaningful experience applying engineering principles in a manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, defense, precision manufacturing, or similarly technical environment.
    • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and the ability to evaluate manufacturability.
    • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, technical documentation, and customer requirements.
    • Ability to understand and assess quality requirements and their impact on manufacturing and business operations.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to evaluate the cost, risk, and operational implications of technical requirements.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Program Management, customers, and other applicable stakeholders.
    • Ability to identify conflicting, ambiguous, incomplete, or unusual technical and contractual requirements.
    • Willingness and ability to learn customer-specific processes and requirements.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to changing customer and operational requirements.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in the aerospace industry, particularly aerospace manufacturing.
    • Practical experience with sheet metal punching, forming, and related fabrication processes.
    • Experience reviewing customer contracts, purchase orders, statements of work, specifications, drawings, or customer-specific requirements.
    • MCL (Materials Control Laboratory) training or experience associated with Pratt & Whitney.
    • Experience with aerospace or automotive quality systems, including AS9100, ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or similar standards.
    • Experience with customer-specific requirements and technical requirement flow-down.
    • Experience with configuration management, change control, or engineering change processes.
    • Familiarity with GD&T, material specifications, process specifications, inspection requirements, and testing requirements.
    • Experience evaluating manufacturing cost, capacity, tooling, equipment, labor, or other factors that affect product profitability.
    • Experience with ERP systems, especially Infor.
