Toyota’s North America Safety Department is seeking a passionate, high-energy Contractor Safety Representative to join our team at TMMMO.
You aren't just a "safety officer"; you are a leader and a strategist. You will bridge the gap between complex regulatory requirements and real-world, actionable instructions on the construction floor. Your mission is to foster an incident-free culture by balancing operational priorities with an unwavering commitment to the safety of every team member and contractor on site.
What You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you will report to the TMMMO Safety Manager and serve as the primary authority on contractor safety systems. Your daily impact includes:
Strategic Leadership: Direct contractors in implementing construction safety management systems for structural steel, mechanical, and electrical installations.
Safety Governance: Lead weekly contractor safety meetings and conduct formal audits to ensure 100% compliance with Toyota standards.
Risk Analysis: Review contractor JSAs (Job Safety Analysis) for accuracy and depth. You will be expected to "challenge the status quo" through deep data analysis and Kaizen (continuous improvement) thinking.
Communication & Reporting: Manage KPIs and develop high-level PowerPoint presentations for local, regional, and global leadership regarding incident reports and plant status.
Standardization: Translate complex safety regulations into standardized, technically accurate policies.
What You Bring
Minimum Requirements:
Experience: 5+ years of experience leading safety on multi-trade construction projects.
Certifications: Active OSHA 510, OSHA 30 (Construction), and deep knowledge of NFPA 70E standards.
Analytical Skills: Proven ability to manage projects requiring critical thinking, data verification, and problem-solving.
Tech Savvy: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel and PowerPoint) for reporting and KPI tracking.
Soft Skills: Strong communication skills with the ability to manage customer expectations and find mutually agreeable solutions in high-pressure environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
Education: Degree in Occupational Safety, Health, or a related field.
Advanced Certifications: CSP, ASP, SMS, CHST, or CSHO.
Training Mastery: OSHA 500 (Train the Trainer) certification.
Position Logistics
Travel: Minimal (primarily limited to occasional training).
Schedule: Early morning start (6:30 AM). Must be flexible for weekend work (approx. 25% overtime) based on project demand.
Work Environment: This is an on-site role at TMMMO in Troy, MO.
