Job Description

Description

SAIC''s Business Management Contracts & Procurement organization delivers end-to-end expertise across the federal acquisition lifecycle - integrating sell-side capture strategy and customer engagement with buy-side supply chain, strategic teaming, and subcontract execution. As an integrated acquisition organization, we enable successful mission outcomes, protect company interests, and drive sustainable growth across SAIC''s portfolio.

SAIC is seeking an experienced Contracts Principal. The Contracts Principal will support the preparation, negotiation, and administration of Firm Fixed Price (FFP) and defined-delivery federal government contracts. This role ensures compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and customer specifications while supporting program objectives and business outcomes.

The ideal candidate must have solid experience in federal contract and proposal management processes and will work closely with Program Managers, leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders across SAIC. The role requires strong knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), proposal support, and financial awareness to address contractual challenges and contribute to program success.

This position is 100% remote.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Contract Management:

  • Administer contracts throughout their lifecycle, including acquisition, baseline management, execution, and closeout, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations (FAR/DFARS), company policies, and contractual obligations.
  • Review, interpret, and negotiate contract terms and conditions; identify areas of risk and develop mitigation approaches to protect SAIC's interests.
  • Maintain the contract baseline, including deliverables, responsibilities, and key milestones; coordinate with program staff to ensure alignment with contractual requirements.
  • Track, manage, and communicate contract changes, modifications, and obligations to ensure accurate implementation and timely resolution of issues.
  • Support audits, contract data requests, and compliance assessments as needed, ensuring alignment on contractual expectations internally and with customers.

Proposal Development:

  • Support proposal activities in collaboration with Program Managers, capture teams, and pricing analysts; ensure proposals meet regulatory and contractual requirements.
  • Draft proposal-specific terms and conditions, identify risk areas, and contribute to solutions for proposal submissions.
  • Assist in the negotiation and finalization of contract awards, ensuring changes in scope or pricing are documented and consistent with proposal assumptions.

Negotiation & Issue Resolution

  • Support the resolution of contractual issues by developing negotiation positions that balance customer and company priorities.
  • Engage with Federal clients to negotiate terms, resolve disputes, and maintain positive customer relationships, applying knowledge of conflict resolution and negotiation techniques.
  • Work with Program Managers by conducting program risk assessments, providing financial awareness, and helping craft agreements that address performance, cost, and schedule requirements.
  • Evaluate the impacts of proposed contract changes and recommend revised positions that protect SAIC's financial interests and align with program goals.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Collaborate across SAIC to align proposal, contract, and program activities with business and financial objectives.
  • Communicate contract-related legal, financial, and programmatic topics clearly to stakeholders, including program staff, legal, finance, and external customers.
  • Share best practices and contribute to process improvements related to contract management, compliance, and proposal quality.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors and ten (10) years or more of related federal contracts/contract management experience; Masters and eight (8) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and five (5) years or more experience. Four years of related professional experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • US citizenship.
  • Certified Professional Contract Manager (CPCM) or Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM) preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating and managing a variety of contract types, including FFP and FPIF, across federal programs. Proficiency in FAR and federal procurement processes.
  • Collaborative team member with the ability to build stakeholder relationships, manage competing priorities, and support negotiations under tight deadlines.
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to convey contractual and financial topics clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to independently identify and resolve contractual issues while managing compliance and risk.

Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
