    Job SummaryThe Employer Control Department Manager will lead the Employer Control team within a third-party administrator (TPA) serving single and multi-employer union trust funds. This role is responsible for daily operations, compliance, and continuous process improvement. In addition to leadership and oversight responsibilities, this role is expected to maintain a working knowledge of departmental processes and actively perform operational work as needed. Key priorities include streamlining workflows, leveraging technology and automation, documenting SOPs, training staff, and establishing KPIs. Responsibilities include:
    • Lead, manage, and supervise Employer Control department staff, including hiring, training, quality assurance, and regular performance evaluations.
    • Develop, implement, and maintain control policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance, with clear documentation of SOPs.
    • Monitor and analyze department processes to identify opportunities for improvement, and introduce automation or technology solutions for enhanced efficiency and accuracy.
    • Ensure precise and timely processing of employer reports, remittances, payroll contributions, audits, and all related transactions, consistently meeting strict monthly deadlines.
    • Collaborate cross-functionally with all other departments including, but not limited to IT, Member Services, Client Services, and Trust Accounting to optimize workflows and drive organizational efficiency.
    • Prepare and present detailed reports on department performance to senior management, including progress against established KPIs.
    • Ensure all board meeting reports, deliverables, and supporting materials are completed accurately and provided to Account Executives within established deadlines to support client and board meeting requirements.
    • Stay abreast of industry trends and regulatory changes to maintain compliance and keep the department competitive.
    • Serve as the primary contact for escalated issues, proactively communicating and resolving concerns with clients, legal representatives, and auditors.
    Qualifications
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in employee benefits administration, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state regulations governing employee benefits, including ERISA, COBRA, and HIPAA.
    • Exceptional leadership and team management abilities across multiple locations across the country.
    • Proven track record in process design, efficiency improvement, and implementing automation or technology solutions.
    • Experience in setting, monitoring, and achieving KPIs and managing staff performance to measurable goals.
    • Outstanding communication and follow-up skills, with direct experience interacting with clients, attorneys, and auditors.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred, with demonstrated knowledge of pension, trust, payroll, or employer contribution accounting principles and financial reporting practices.
    • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or related discipline.
    • Relevant professional certifications such as Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or Certified Benefits Professional (CBP)
    • Prior experience with third-party administration (TPA) systems and processes.
    Working Conditions
    • Occasional travel is required.
