About The Role WEG is hiring a Control Panel Design Engineer II. This role is responsible for creating designs and documentation for industrial motor control panels that meet customer requirements while complying with applicable standards and manufacturing procedures. Scope includes standard products, modified standard products, customer- or application-specific OEM products, and custom products. Interfacing with sales, service, customers, and production, and will work both independently and as part of a team.Primary Responsibilities Develop schematics, bills of materials, and assembly drawings using AutoCADProvide guidance and support to manufacturing and other areas regarding product requirementsParticipate in and provide training for other engineering team membersStudy and analyze project technical documents and specificationsApply thorough understanding of relevant electrical standards to prevent electrical hazardsCommunicate progress and deviations from schedule or budget to colleagues, managers, and clientsEstimate time, cost, labor, and materials required for production; reformulate plans based on unexpected circumstances or client changesAdhere to best practices for documentation and version controlDefine design approach for new products and platforms and generate design specificationsPrepare accurate field notes, sketches, and single‑line diagrams for use in construction documentsMake design decisions based on specific job requirements and prepare complete design packagesRelease panels and prints to operations and release critical materials for purchasingEnsure product designs meet requirements, quality expectations, and timelinesMark up schematics and generate revisions or additions to existing drawing setsProcess markups affecting multiple drawingsEnsure consistency across drawing setsCheck markups for practicality, obstructions, and accuracy using multi‑layer techniquesCreate, revise, and maintain routings and work centers in the systemUpdate metrics to improve routing and production planning accuracyMaintain revision controlExecute SAP tasksDrive cost reduction initiativesPerform other duties and tasks as assignedEducation Engineering degree or equivalent; directly related work experience will be considered in lieu of a degreeKnowledge & Training Proficiency with Microsoft Office SuiteIntermediate Excel skills, including charts, graphs, formulas, tables, pivot charts, and macrosBasic familiarity with 3‑phase and single‑phase power designKnowledge of VFD and Soft Starter principlesAutoCAD required; AutoCAD Electrical and/or EPLAN preferredKnowledge of industrial standards and their application, including UL 508A (Short Circuit Current Ratings), NEC, and NEMA; UL 508A MTR Certification preferredUnderstanding of manufacturing processes and construction methods, including the ability to maintain design cost targetsUnderstanding of BOM systems and material managementBasic programming of intelligent devices and componentsAbility to read schematics for troubleshooting and identify functional defectsFamiliarity with basic programming methods and parameter identification of industrial drives and/or soft startersAbility to create logical circuits based on customer operational requirementsFamiliarity with quality control tools, including 5S and root cause analysisBasic electronics and circuit analysis, including DC and AC fundamentals, basic electrical laws, series and parallel circuits, network analysis, grounding techniques, magnetism, inductance/capacitance, resistance, diodes, potentiometers, and logic operationsDigital systems knowledge, including logic families, arithmetic/logic instructions, I/O programming, timers, interrupts, and interfacing techniquesExperience 3+ years of relevant work experience requiredJob Requirements Position requires authorization to work in the United States.
