Responsible for monitoring, attending, and operating combustion turbines, steam turbines, heat recovery steam generators, and auxiliary equipment at the J.M. Shafer Generating Station from the control room and in the field, as qualifications allow. Supports the Operations Working Foreman and shift personnel in operating a combined cycle generating facility in conformance with Power Purchase Agreements, Operating Agreements, plant procedures, environmental regulations, and safety procedures. Keeps the Operations Working Foreman and appropriate plant personnel fully informed of plant operating status, unusual conditions, alarms, equipment deficiencies, and other issues affecting reliable plant operation.
Note:
There is one position available, and the position will be filled at one of five job grade levels: Control Room Operator/Technician I, job grade T2; Control Room Operator/Technician II, job grade T3; Control Room Operator/Technician III, job grade T4; Control Room Operator/Technician IV, job grade T5; or Journey Level Control Room Operator/Technician, job grade T6. This decision will be based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate selected, and Tri-State business needs at the time of hire.

Education and Training
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability
Experience:
At least one (1) year of experience as a Combined Cycle Technician, Level IV and
Four (4) years of power plant experience, combustion turbines experience preferred.
Those with less experience will be hired at the I, II, III, or IV job grade level, as appropriate.
Other:
Willingness to work extra or irregular hours, shift work, weekends, holidays, call out, and travel as required.
Willingness to work with high voltages, obtain switching certification, and perform high voltage switching.
Must reside within a 60-minute response time of the base location.
Have good health and physical ability adequate for strenuous work, including ability to wear a respirator.
Must be able to demonstrate that he or she can perform all of the essential functions of the position.
Support the Operations Working Foreman and shift personnel in operating a combined cycle generating facility in conformance with Power Purchase Agreements, Operating Agreements, plant procedures, environmental regulations, and safety procedures.

Maintain awareness of plant operating status, alarms, trends, and system conditions; diagnose abnormal operating conditions and take appropriate remedial action as authorized or required.
Keep the Operations Working Foreman and appropriate plant personnel fully informed of plant operating status, unusual conditions, faulty equipment, and operational concerns.
Communicate detailed plant status verbally and in writing to fellow Combined Cycle Technicians, Control Room Operators, foremen, and other plant personnel during shift turnover and routine operations.
Operate fluid valves and electric circuit breakers, as required and authorized, to maintain proper system operation, mechanical isolation, and electrical isolation.
Perform water chemistry analysis on plant water systems; ensure water chemistry is within proper control ranges; and make adjustments to water chemistry, as needed, by controlling chemical feed and/or blowdown rates.
Operate and/or monitor the water purification system in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer and plant procedures, and monitor demineralized water to ensure quality is within acceptable limits.
Use CMMS (Oracle) to document work, manage work requests, support inventory activities, and assist with procurement efforts consistent with established procedures.
Read, understand, and comply with all regulatory procedures, facility safety programs, operating procedures, environmental permits, and applicable compliance requirements.
Complete required training, including but not limited to Operator Qualification Program requirements, First Aid and CPR, HAZWOPER, spill/waste handling, respirator training and testing, and site-specific operating qualifications.
Perform preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities as assigned and as qualifications allow.
Work shift hours, overtime, irregular hours, and call out/standby hours as needed to support reliable operation of the facility, including short-notice changes based on facility needs.
Perform general plant housekeeping, including maintaining the cleanliness of the control room, plant areas, and other areas as assigned.
Maintain plant security in conformance with site procedures.
Perform collateral duties in conformance with the Collateral Duty Program, as assigned by Plant Management.
