About the Role
This role is responsible for leading the technical execution of industrial automation and control systems projects across the Americas. As the technical lead, you will partner closely with Project Managers, customers, and a global engineering team to deliver automation solutions from design through commissioning while providing engineering leadership, technical guidance, and customer support throughout the project lifecycle.
This position is approximately 70% Control Systems Engineering and 30% Operational Technology (OT) Systems, with Control Systems expertise being the primary focus.
About the Department
The Automation Technologies US Engineering team delivers Process Control Systems and Operational Technology (OT) solutions for the cement and heavy process industries throughout the Americas. Working closely with a highly skilled global engineering organization, the team leads customer-facing project execution while collaborating with international engineering resources to deliver innovative, reliable automation solutions.
Your Responsibilities
Lead the technical execution of industrial automation and Control Systems projects from concept through commissioning.
Serve as the primary technical resource supporting Project Managers, customers, consultants, suppliers, and internal stakeholders throughout project execution.
Design, configure, program, and troubleshoot PLC, DCS, SCADA, HMI, industrial networking, and control systems for new installations and modernization projects.
Review and approve engineering deliverables, including hardware architecture, I/O databases, bills of material, equipment specifications, and technical documentation.
Coordinate engineering activities with a global engineering team to ensure high-quality, on-time project execution.
Conduct and lead Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning support, and system handover activities.
Provide technical leadership and engineering oversight for Operational Technology (OT) systems, including industrial servers, workstations, virtualization, networking, and system integration.
Support hardware engineering, system integration, testing, validation, and lifecycle improvements for automation systems.
Evaluate new automation technologies, hardware, and software while driving engineering standardization and continuous improvement.
Mentor engineers and production technicians by providing technical guidance, engineering reviews, and knowledge sharing.
Support troubleshooting, warranty activities, and complex technical problem-solving throughout the product lifecycle.
Ensure engineering solutions comply with customer requirements, industry standards, quality expectations, and cybersecurity best practices
You Bring
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Automation/Control Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
7+ years of experience in Control Systems Engineering, Industrial Automation, or a related engineering field.
Strong experience designing, programming, configuring, implementing, and troubleshooting PLC, DCS, SCADA, and HMI systems.
Hands-on experience with one or more major automation platforms, including Siemens, Rockwell Automation, ABB, or Schneider Electric.
Experience leading the technical execution of industrial automation or control systems projects.
Experience working directly with customers, supporting technical meetings, design reviews, FAT/SAT activities, and commissioning.
Strong understanding of industrial automation architecture, instrumentation, control philosophies, PFDs, and P&IDs.
Excellent analytical, technical problem-solving, communication, and project coordination skills.
Ability to work effectively within a global matrix organization and collaborate with international engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Operational Technology (OT) infrastructure, including industrial servers, virtualization, networking, cybersecurity, and system integration.
Experience with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, PROFIBUS, PROFINET, MQTT, and OPC.
Experience working for control system integrators, industrial automation integrators, engineering consulting firms, or control panel integration companies.
Experience supporting cement, mining, metals, steel, minerals processing, power generation, or other heavy industrial process environments.
Experience with Intelligent MCCs, IIoT devices, and smart instrumentation.
Experience with FLS ECS or comparable Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
Microsoft, VMware, Cisco, Dell, HP, or similar technical certifications.
