Position Overview At HDR, this Control Systems EIT role supports our Controls and Cybersecurity design team by integrating services, coordinating workload, reviewing documents, writing specifications, and developing construction drawings. It also involves supervising staff, providing construction contract administration, leading SCADA and network master‑planning projects, traveling to client sites, participating in design reviews, developing engineering reports, serving as Engineer of Record, interfacing with other specialists, and supporting proposal development.Responsibilities:Integrate into HDR's Controls and Cybersecurity design teamIntroduce Integration Services into the AreaCoordinate control system discipline staff workload through design development and construction document phases to complete documents on scheduleReview control systems documents for areas of conflict with all disciplinesWrite and edit instrumentation and controls systems specifications, and select equipment and monitoring/control devicesDevelop biddable and technically accurate SCADA / Control Systems construction documents including P&IDs, network architecture diagrams, control panel layouts and wiring diagrams, installation details, loop drawings, and technical specificationsCoordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, and take responsibility to incorporate agreed‑upon changes into the project documentsMake decisions on significant design and engineering procedures as neededSupervise and develop a small staff of professionals and technicians as neededProvide construction contract administration as neededLead or support SCADA and network master planning projects as neededTravel to client facilities to participate in field activities to assess and document the current state of installed control systemsParticipate in and lead design review and planning meetings with the clientLead the development of preliminary engineering reports and studies focused on recommending and developing solutions for improvements to client control systemsServe as Engineer of Record in responsible charge for the development of biddable and technically accurate control system construction documentsInterface with Electrical, Process, and Cybersecurity specialists to fully coordinate design requirements for network, power, control, and instrumentationLead the selection and specification of facility and process instrumentation, control panels, and network equipmentLead the development of biddable and technically accurate control system construction documents including P&IDs, process flow diagrams, network architecture diagrams, control panel layouts and wiring diagrams, installation details, loop drawings, and technical specificationsParticipate in system testing and commissioning activitiesCoordinate with project manager and section manager to update workplans for control systems staff assigned to your project, and to track budget and schedule performance for the control systems teamParticipate in joint scoping and proposal development working with clients and marketing staffParticipate in the planning and specification of applied technology solutions including instrumentation and control, advanced automation and control, artificial intelligence, networking, data management & analytics, augmented reality, and vision controlProvide Quality Control (QC) reviews of control system designsPreferred Qualifications:Ability to obtain a Professional Engineer license within six months of hireDesire to become a Controls and Cybersecurity Section/Team lead for the AreaExperience designing Control Systems, including schematics and loopsPrevious work experience with an A&E/Consulting Engineering firmMaster's degree in Mechanical or Electrical EngineeringRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related fieldSelf‑motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of a taskKnowledgeable of Allen‑Bradley, Modicon, Wonderware and/or InterlutionMay need to travelAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture is a mustLocation United States – Kentucky – LouisvilleSchedule Full‑timeEmployee Status RegularWe are an equal opportunity employer.
