Responsibilities
Ensure the accurate and timely reconciliation of direct bill and agency bill commissions, including preparation of management reports that track new business activity.
Manage the full cycle of general ledger accounting, including cash control, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
Calculate, review, and reconcile monthly producer commission statements.
Manage daily deposits, bookkeeping, biweekly payroll processing, and expense reconciliation.
Handle day-to-day accounting for the in-house brokerage firm in accordance with applicable FINRA guidelines, including completion of required regulatory filings.
Collaborate with the Agency Principal to develop annual budgets and cash flow projections, and provide reporting on actual results compared with budget.
Prepare and submit annual industry reports and required filings.
Manage non-resident licenses and related compliance filings.
Oversee accounting operations within AMS360, the agency management system.
35 years of accounting or controller experience; experience in an insurance brokerage or independent agency environment is strongly preferred.
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification is a plus.
Proven experience managing full-cycle general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting.
Advanced Excel skills are essential.
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and organizational abilities.
Solid understanding of debits and credits, payroll, cash management, forecasting, budgeting, and technical accounting concepts.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities effectively.
Independent thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
