Controller Position

Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS) is currently recruiting for our Controller who will split time between Spring Valley Hospital Medical Center and Valley Hospital Medical Center. In 2003, Spring Valley Hospital Medical Center was the first acute care hospital to open in southwest Las Vegas. Today, our 364-bed hospital features all private rooms and a comprehensive range of medical offerings to meet the needs of area residents and visitors including: 24 hour emergency services, cardiovascular services with a specialty in open-heart surgery, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, maternity services with a Level III NICU and wound care. Valley Hospital Medical Center, located in the heart of Las Vegas, is a tertiary-care and teaching hospital that offers a comprehensive range of services, including advanced cardiovascular, neurological and surgical services. Advanced cardiovascular services include open-heart surgery, balloon angioplasty, cardiac catheterizations and peripheral vascular studies. Emergency care is available around the clock at the hospital. Among neurological services offered are coiling for brain aneurysms, neurosurgery and stroke care. Complementing the hospital's neurology program is a neurology residency program and inpatient acute rehabilitation unit. The hospital also provides a wide range of surgical services including breast care, colorectal, gynecological, general, orthopedic, spine and vascular procedures. Endoscopy procedures are also performed. Additional services offered at the hospital include a wound healing and hyperbaric center and outpatient diabetes education and counseling.

The Controller job responsibilities will include: The Facility Controller supports the hospital market CFO by ensuring the accurate and timely reporting of financial information for assigned facilities. The role is structured towards development and matriculation into a future Executive Financial leadership role, so the position offers the opportunity to learn and train in the various aspects of revenue cycle, expense management through review, accruals and standardization, business development through pro forma development and lookbacks as well as operational budgeting. Assists CFOs in annual operational budget preparation for market entities. Prepares and conducts departmental Monthly Operating Reviews. Conducts monthly financial statement and operational reviews, to ensure the accuracy and integrity, for market entities. The process is undertaken to ensure completeness and standardization is achieved. Revenue Cycle – Net Revenue to include Statistics, CDM Development, Revenue Daily Reconciliations, Various Payer Reimbursement, Contractuals/Discounts, DNFB/Unbilled and Cash Collection Business Development participation includes the preparation of pro formas, as well as the completion of lookbacks to determine if the investment has produced the results expected. Manages various special projects as assigned by Market CFO, changes in financial reporting requirements, acquisitions, dispositions and various other requests.

Qualifications Five years plus progressive experience in a financial capacity at a health care facility. Experience working with Medical Records (HIM), Business Office, Materials Management and Accounting departments preferred. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Computer hardware/software skills required. Education Required: Bachelors degree. CPA preferred.
