Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller is responsible for overseeing the daily accounting operations for a consolidated group of companies while ensuring the timely preparation of financial statements, regulatory filings, and management reports.

Description

  • Oversee all daily accounting operations for multiple entities within a consolidated organization.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and regulatory reports.
  • Ensure accurate and timely consolidation of financial results across multiple companies.
  • Supervise the Accounting Manager and provide leadership for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Billing, and Payroll functions.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
  • Coordinate annual financial statement audits and serve as the primary contact for external auditors.
  • Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, including sales and payroll tax requirements.
  • Oversee job cost accounting, fixed asset accounting, and financial reporting related to construction projects.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial planning initiatives.
  • Partner with executive leadership to provide financial analysis and recommendations that support strategic business decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with prevailing wage requirements, including Davis-Bacon regulations where applicable.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.

Profile

  • Master's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field with at least 10 years of relevant accounting experience; or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field with at least 15 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience within the construction industry, including consolidated financial reporting and job cost accounting.
  • Strong background in construction accounting.
  • Experience with ERP accounting systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with job cost accounting and fixed asset accounting.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state sales tax and payroll tax regulations.
  • Understanding of construction cost burdening.
  • Knowledge of prevailing wage requirements, including Davis-Bacon payroll regulations.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, make sound independent decisions, and lead a high-performing accounting team.
  • CPA designation preferred but not required.
  • Experience managing accounting operations for multiple entities or a consolidated corporate structure.
  • Proven ability to improve accounting processes and implement best practices.
