Sleeping Dog Properties is seeking to build an experienced accounting group to help manage our. The ideal candidate will manage financial records using QuickBooks and Procore, ensuring accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping for our construction projects. This role is critical in supporting the financial health and operational efficiency of our company.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Oversight
Lead all accounting operations including GL, AP/AR, payroll, and financial reporting
Produce accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Maintain and improve internal controls and financial processes
Job Costing & Project Financial Management
Oversee real-time job cost tracking across all active projects
Ensure alignment between budgets, commitments, and actual costs
Monitor and report on project-level profitability and margin fade/gain
Partner with PMs and Project Executives to identify financial risks early
WIP & Revenue Recognition
Manage Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and revenue recognition
Ensure proper cost-plus and percentage-of-completion accounting
Identify and flag under/over-billings and cash exposure
Cash Flow & Forecasting
Develop and maintain rolling cash flow forecasts
Manage company liquidity, banking relationships, and draw schedules
Forecast financial performance based on backlog and pipeline
Strategic & Operational Support
Support pricing strategy, fee structures, and contract review
Work closely with estimating and operations to improve margin performance
Team & Process Development
Oversee and mentor accounting staff
Improve systems integration (e.g., Procore + accounting software)
Drive process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
Requirements
Required
8–15+ years of accounting/finance experience, with construction industry experience required
Strong expertise in job costing and WIP reporting
Experience with cost-plus and high-end residential or commercial construction
Proficiency with construction software (e.g., Procore, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar)
Strong Excel and financial modeling skills
Preferred
CPA or equivalent certification
Experience in a design/build or integrated construction environment
Experience in a $15M–$50M revenue company
Familiarity with complex, multi-phase or high-end projects
