We are Alpha Supported Living Services, a non-profit organization, we provide residential and community-based services to adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Our primary objective at Alpha is to enhance the quality of life for each of our clients by aiding them in learning, personal development, and fostering increased independence. Since 1974, we've been dedicated to offering supported living, group home, community inclusion, and representative payee services, expanding our reach across King, Snohomish, and Spokane counties in Washington State. Job Summary
The Controller provides leadership and coordination of the agency accounting operations. The Controller reports directly to the Director of Finance. This position ensures that all company finance and accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles, including regularly reviewing internal control procedures related to the receipt and disbursement of funds. The Controller will also interact with program participants and so must be familiar with the Residential Service Guidelines issued by the Developmental Disabilities Administration. At all times, the Controller will seek to act in accord with the principles and values expressed in the guidelines and uphold the agency mission "to serve individuals with developmental disabilities by providing accessible residential and other support services that will maximize the person's quality of life."
Day-to-Day
Manage and direct the accounting functions of the organization
Remain current in all changes in or new requirements of GAAP and/or government reporting requirements and makes recommendations to assure all staff are adequately prepared, serving as the primary advisor regarding accounting questions and issues
Report recommendations to the Director of Finance and Chief Executive Officer.
Working with the Director of Finance, prepare all financial documents and accounting for the annual audit and serve as a primary agency contact for external audits
Ensure that all agency funds and accounts are maintained as appropriate, and that bank statements and investment reports are reviewed and reconciled
Ensure all debts and obligations are met in a timely manner and track agency costs as they occur in an effort to provide current oversight of financial performance
Oversee financial personnel responsible for accounts payable and accounts receivable
Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual tax deposits and reports
Maintain corporate registrations with city, county, and state entities
Prepare, analyze and distribute other reports as needed or requested; including Unemployment Insurance Reports, Industrial Insurance, any required Federal Tax Reports, and any other required reports
Ensures reporting compliance with other funding entities, including HUD and Department of Commerce
Compile reports and monitor performance of Inclusion Housing portfolio
Direct and oversee payroll responsibilities, including deposit of tax funds and updating of paid time off records
Monitor processing of payroll, ensuring expenses are properly processed and accounted for within the general operating account
Manage and monitor electronic timekeeping, payroll transmittal, retirement plan payments and PTO tracking
Monitor the use of ISS hours to contracted hours and prepare settlement reports for the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Directors
Maintain and update PTO records following each payroll cycle
Prepare and balances periodic and statistical reports and summaries; reconcile various reports against bank statements, pay summaries, benefit accounts,
Provide the Director of Finance with information and data necessary to complete monthly financial reports
Assist with period-end reporting for financial summaries
Provide personnel supervision to assigned staff

Salary Scale:
$107,120 - $145,600

Benefits for Full-Time Employees (30 hours or more a week) include Medical, Dental, Vision, 403(b) (non-profit version of a 401(k)) with company match, Life Insurance, Tuition Savings Program, and Tuition Reimbursement. Employees working 34 or more hours a week are eligible for PTO accrual.
