The Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting operations at Mains’l Services ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and alignment with the organization’s mission. This role leads day-to-day accounting functions, supports strategic financial decision-making, and ensures strong internal controls across a complex, multi-entity nonprofit environment.

Salary: $138,100-173,200/ year (Dependent on experience)

Position Responsibilities:
Lead all accounting and financial reporting functions, ensuring timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, fixed assets, month-end close, and internal controls.
Manage tax compliance, audit activities, and regulatory reporting, including coordination with external auditors and oversight of required filings such as Form 990.
Partner with executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and variance analysis to support organizational growth and strategic decision-making.
Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Drive financial systems and process enhancements to improve reporting accuracy, operational efficiency, and overall finance function performance.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance field required
7+ years of progressively responsible experience in Finance or Accounting positions, including leadership responsibilities
CPA or CMA designation, preferred
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
Experience in nonprofit or human services organizations
Familiarity with government funding, grants, and Medicaid billing environments.
Experience with multi-entity or complex organizational structures.
Innovative and curious, creating opportunities to implement system and process enhancements
Effective communicator, both oral and written
Collaborative and inclusive with internal and external partners, ensuring their needs and expectations are met
