LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a Cost Controller. This role is responsible for leading all accounting and financial operations while serving as a strategic business partner to executive leadership and plant management. The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on cost accounting experience within a standard cost manufacturing environment and a proven ability to drive financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and business performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, fixed assets, and month-end close activities.

  • Lead the preparation of timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

  • Manage and maintain the company's standard cost accounting system, including product costing, cost rollups, and cost updates.

  • Analyze manufacturing variances, labor utilization, material consumption, overhead absorption, and inventory performance.

  • Partner with operations leadership to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve plant profitability.

  • Monitor inventory valuation, cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory controls.

  • Develop annual budgets, forecasts, and financial models to support strategic planning initiatives.

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies and procedures.

  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.

  • Support external audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting requirements.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff while promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

  • Provide financial analysis and reporting to senior leadership to support key business decisions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience.

  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is required.

  • Strong hands-on cost accounting experience within a standard cost manufacturing environment is required.

  • Experience analyzing manufacturing variances, inventory valuation, and product costing.

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.

  • Experience with ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

  • Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and business partnering abilities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.

  • Experience supporting multi-site manufacturing operations.

  • Continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, or process improvement experience is a plus.
