Job Details
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, AP, AR, cash management and reconciliations
- Lead the monthly and year end close, producing accurate financial statements and management reports
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow projections and financial analysis
- Partner with senior leadership to deliver reporting and analysis that drives business decisions
- Track revenue, expenses, margins, inventory and overall financial performance
- Oversee accounting for product sales, distribution, transportation and supplier relationships
- Maintain strong internal controls and protect the integrity of financial data
- Coordinate with outside CPA firms, tax advisors, auditors and banks
- Support annual tax preparation, audits and compliance requirements
- Spot and implement improvements to accounting processes, reporting and controls
- Build and maintain financial models and reporting tools for leadership
- Work across operations, sales and logistics to explain financial results and trends
- Manage and develop accounting staff as the organization grows
Qualifications Needed
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field. CPA preferred, not required
- Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally with prior Controller or Accounting Manager experience
- Strong command of GAAP and financial reporting
- Proven ability to own the month end close and prepare financial statements
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management
- Background in a small to mid sized, privately held company where the Controller rolls up their sleeves
- Experience with inventory, distribution or product based accounting is a strong plus
- Comfortable communicating directly with ownership and senior leadership
