JOB TITLE: Controller

PAY TYPE: Exempt

REPORTS TO: General Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Controller is responsible for the full scope of financial management for Gables Engineering, including financial planning, reporting, analysis, and compliance. This role ensures accurate and timely delivery of financial results, drives process improvements in cost and inventory control, and provides strategic financial leadership to support business growth. The Vice President of Finance serves as the key liaison between Gables and HEICO/ETG, ensuring alignment with corporate reporting requirements and best practices.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Leadership & Reporting

  • Own full P&L and balance sheet responsibility.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, operating reports, and variance analyses.
  • Provide timely and accurate financial reporting to both Gables leadership and HEICO/ETG, ensuring compliance with internal, external (SEC), and regulatory requirements.
  • Support HEICO/ETG with reporting packages, audit requirements, and tax-related schedules.
  • Owns overall responsibility for the Finance function's use of the IFS ERP system, including oversight of current operations and any future uplifts to ensure business continuity.

Planning & Forecasting

  • Direct the annual budget process and periodic re-forecasts, including detailed analysis of revenue, expenses, cash flow, and capital expenditures.
  • Oversee development of weekly and monthly forecast reports to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Partner with senior leadership on strategic planning and investment decisions.

Cost, Inventory, and Operational Finance

  • Oversee cost accounting and inventory valuation processes, ensuring compliance with policy and accuracy of reporting.
  • Provide financial insight into product/job cost trends and operational performance, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Provide costing and estimating support for Sales and Business Development activities.
  • Provide financial oversight for inventory management, work-in-progress (WIP), and supply chain cost drivers.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing practices through data-driven financial analysis.

Controls & Compliance

  • Ensure appropriate financial controls, including compliance with SOX 404, corporate policies, and IT systems.
  • Manage local tax and regulatory compliance.
  • Partner with Internal Audit and HEICO corporate finance to maintain a strong control environment.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Finance and Accounting team, ensuring alignment with company and HEICO values.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, responsiveness, and continuous improvement.
  • Attract, retain, and grow talent to support future business needs.

M&A and Integration Support

  • Contribute financial due diligence and integration efforts for acquisitions, partnerships, or other growth opportunities.
