Job Details
The ideal candidate is a CPA with strong construction accounting experience and prior exposure to a private equity-backed environment. This person will partner closely with executive leadership and the investment team to provide accurate financial reporting, improve processes, strengthen controls, and support continued growth.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, cash management, and financial reporting.
Own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process and ensure accurate and timely financial statements.
Oversee construction job costing, project accounting, cost-to-complete analysis, and job-level profitability.
Manage and review WIP schedules, percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, earned revenue, and gross margin calculations.
Partner with project management and operations teams to analyze project performance, change orders, labor costs, committed costs, and cost-to-complete estimates.
Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections, and key performance indicators.
Develop and maintain strong accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, systems, and operational efficiency.
Support annual audits, tax compliance, banking relationships, and other external financial requirements.
Provide financial analysis and reporting to executive leadership and private equity ownership, including reporting packages and performance updates.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and strategic planning.
Monitor working capital, cash flow, backlog, and other construction-specific financial metrics.
Partner with leadership on acquisitions, integration initiatives, and other growth-related projects as needed.
Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team while establishing a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Active CPA license required.
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with significant experience in construction accounting.
Strong understanding of job costing, WIP, percentage-of-completion accounting, and project-based financial reporting.
Previous experience working for a private equity-backed company or closely partnering with private equity ownership strongly preferred.
Experience overseeing the full accounting cycle and leading a month-end close.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
Experience with construction ERP/accounting systems preferred.
Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills.
Strong leadership, communication, and business-partnering abilities.
Highly analytical, process-minded, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
