Established educational organization is seeking a Controller to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, and day-to-day finance functions within a collaborative, mission-driven environment. This is a highly visible leadership role partnering closely with executive leadership while supporting operational and strategic financial initiatives.

Job Details

Responsibilities
  • Oversee accounting operations including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, reconciliations, and month-end close
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, audit coordination, and cash management activities
  • Assist with grant, restricted fund, and institutional accounting activities
  • Partner with executive leadership on operational reporting and financial analysis
  • Maintain accurate financial records and help improve accounting processes and efficiencies
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff while fostering accountability and collaboration
  • Support external audit, tax, and compliance reporting requirements

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance leadership experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Prior higher education, nonprofit, governmental, or fund accounting experience preferred
  • Experience overseeing audits, budgeting, and operational accounting functions
  • Strong Excel and ERP/accounting systems experience
  • CPA preferred but not required
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
