A leading manufacturer of industrial equipment is seeking a Controller to manage accounting operations and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting leader with expertise in financial reporting, payroll, taxes, and operational finance. Working collaboratively, the new leader will maintain financial accuracy by overseeing accounting processes while supporting compliance and business operations.

Salary:  $125,000-$150,000
Location: NW Houston, TX
Type of Position: Direct Hire

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee full-cycle accounting functions, including accounts payable/receivable, billing, general ledger, bank reconciliations, cash application, collections, payroll, and budgeting.
  • Manage cash flow and maintain strong banking relationships.
  • Evaluate and establish customer credit, including processing references and setting credit limits and terms.
  • Administer weekly payroll and monthly commissions; ensure accurate reporting and timely payment of payroll taxes.
  • Ensure compliance with all tax requirements, including sales, income, property, and franchise taxes.
  • Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Process W-2s and 1099s and maintain employee vacation and records.
  • Support customer service needs by reviewing orders for accuracy, resolving invoicing and sales tax issues, and processing returns.
  • Serve as liaison between management and staffing agencies for temporary workforce needs.
  • Generate daily and weekly reports to track business activity, forecasts, and data integrity.
  • Lead annual insurance renewals and negotiations, including General Liability, Property, BOP, E&O, Flood, Auto, and Workers’ Compensation.
  • Review contracts, terms, and legal documents to ensure compliance and support internal communication.
  • Assist with special projects and perform additional duties as needed.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or relevant field required
  • 5+ years of full cycle accounting experience
  • Accounting experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience working in QuickBooks and advanced MS Excel
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, and very detail oriented
