Well-established mission-driven organization is seeking a Controller to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, audit coordination, compliance, and internal controls for a complex multi-department environment.

This is a highly visible leadership opportunity reporting directly into executive finance leadership with exposure across the organization. Job Details

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee accounting operations including general ledger, payroll, AP/AR, cash management, reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports
  • Lead annual audit process and serve as primary liaison for external auditors
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory reporting requirements
  • Oversee fund/restricted accounting, grants, and capital project accounting
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures
  • Partner with senior leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
  • Mentor and develop accounting staff while helping improve processes and efficiencies

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Experience managing audits and overseeing month-end/year-end close
  • Prior higher education, nonprofit, or fund accounting experience preferred
  • CPA and/or Master’s degree preferred
  • ERP system experience strongly preferred
