Description

Controller - Family Office


This position serves as the financial control and analytical backbone of the family office. The Controller ensures trade activity is accurate and properly reviewed, cash positions are reconciled and visible in real time, and the Investment Committee has timely, reliable data to support decision-making.


Responsibilities:


Trade & Portfolio Oversight

  • Review executed trades across custodians and platforms for accuracy, settlement, and compliance with investment guidelines and allocation bands
  • Flag discrepancies, failed trades, or mandate breaches to Investments leadership

Reporting

  • Prepare periodic performance and portfolio reports for the Investment Committee, including allocation vs. targets, liquidity, risk exposures, and benchmark comparisons
  • Maintain dashboards and scorecards for recurring governance meetings

Cash & Liquidity Management

  • Reconcile cash flows across entities, custodians, and legal platforms
  • Monitor capital calls, distributions, and funding needs across the portfolio
  • Maintain a rolling liquidity calendar

Financial Projections & Analysis

  • Build and maintain cash flow forecasts and scenario models
  • Support annual budgeting and multi-year capital planning
  • Model the impact of proposed allocation changes, new commitments, or distributions

Controls & Compliance

  • Maintain internal controls over financial data integrity
  • Support external auditors, tax advisors, and custodial reconciliations
  • Ensure a clear documentation trail for all trade approvals and cash movements


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics (CFA or CPA a plus)
  • 5+ years of experience in investment operations, fund controllership, or family office/institutional asset management
  • Strong Excel and financial modeling skills; familiarity with portfolio management systems and custodial platforms
  • High level of discretion — this role handles sensitive family financial data
