The Plant Controller is a key finance leader responsible for the financial integrity, cost accounting, and reporting of the manufacturing facility. This role partners with plant operations and corporate finance leadership to drive accurate forecasting, disciplined cost management, and sound financial decision-making, while leading a team of accounting and finance professionals.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Manage and grow a high-performing team of accounting professionals, providing coaching, mentorship, and development.
Serve as the plant's finance and accounting leader
Manage and drive a timely and accurate monthly closing process
Analyze and articulate business performance versus expected results to plant and finance leadership.
Drive cash flow improvements within the accounts payable process.
Drive cost accounting and standard cost improvements at the manufacturing plant.
Ensure adherence to internal controls, GAAP, and corporate accounting policies.
Oversee timely and accurate account reconciliations, ensuring balance sheet integrity and prompt resolution of discrepancies.
Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external audits, ensuring timely, accurate responses and effective remediation of findings.
Support annual budgeting and standard cost-setting processes.
Partner cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and plant management to support business decisions with financial insight.
Requirements
Education & Experience
10-15+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; MBA and/or CPA preferred
Manufacturing industry experience with hands-on cost accounting required
Public accounting experience a plus, though not required
Proven experience leading and developing a finance/accounting team
Skills & Competencies
Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial results to non-finance stakeholders and senior leadership
Experience with ERP systems and proficiency in Excel / financial modeling tools
Highly organized with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple sites
Demonstrated integrity and discretion with confidential information
Self-motivated with a continuous improvement mindset
