COMPANY & POSITION OVERVIEW

HEAL Wellness & Innovations is a growing health, wellness, and medical-products company serving consumers, healthcare providers, and professional offices through direct-to-consumer, business-to-business, wholesale/distributor, marketplace, and strategic-partnership channels.

Reporting to the CFO, the Controller is HEAL’s hands-on senior accounting leader, responsible for the integrity of financial records and for scalable accounting operations, reporting, controls, inventory and cost accounting, revenue, payroll, tax coordination, and day-to-day treasury. The role supports the external accounting team and moves confidently between accounting and executive analysis while handling budgeting, forecasting, cash planning, profitability, pricing, partnership economics, and strategic initiatives in an evolving entrepreneurial environment.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounting, close & reporting

  • Lead the general ledger, AP, AR, cash receipts, fixed assets, prepaids, accruals, intercompany transactions, leases, bank reconciliations, and all other balance-sheet accounts; maintain an appropriate chart of accounts and reporting structure by entity, department, product, customer, channel, and business unit.
  • Run disciplined monthly, quarterly, and annual closes; prepare timely GAAP financial statements; ensure material accounts are reconciled, reviewed, documented, supported, and audit-ready; coordinate audits, reviews, lender reporting, and external examinations.
  • Deliver monthly management reporting covering results, operating metrics, variances, cash flow, and key risks; maintain policies, SOPs, close checklists, approval matrices, and documentation standards; research and document technical positions, including revenue, inventory, leases, returns, rebates, warranties, commissions, and significant transactions.
  • Oversee revenue recognition and cutoff by channel, contract, and arrangement, including shipments, delivery/title transfer, consignment, and third-party inventory; review provider, distributor, and commercial agreements for payment terms, discounts, rebates, commissions, returns, consignment, warranties, and other obligations.
  • Reconcile e-commerce platforms, gateways, merchant processors, deposits, sales, platform fees, refunds, chargebacks, gift cards, discounts, and credits; oversee B2B billing, credit approval, aging, collections, bad-debt reserves, deductions, and disputes.
  • Account accurately for returns, promotions, samples, rebates, incentives, commissions, warranties, and gross-to-net adjustments; control provider-related payments and arrangements with Legal/Compliance as needed. Where applicable, oversee payer reimbursement, contractual allowances, denied claims, refunds, and receivables with revenue-cycle or operating teams.
  • Own inventory reconciliation, valuation, reserves, and reporting across company and third-party locations; maintain product costing for supplier/contract-manufacturing cost, packaging, freight, duties, fulfillment, and other landed costs; analyze COGS by SKU, family, supplier, channel, customer type, and business unit.
  • Control raw materials, finished goods, packaging, promotions, samples, returns, damaged/expired/recalled goods, consignment, and third-party inventory; coordinate cycle counts and physical inventories, investigate discrepancies, reduce shrinkage, and reserve for slow-moving, obsolete, damaged, expired, returned, recalled, or impaired stock.
  • Ensure systems support required lot, batch, serial, expiration, and location data; account for recalls, returns, replacements, warranties, and exposures; analyze purchase-price/manufacturing variances, freight, fulfillment, and supplier performance; recommend pricing, sourcing, packaging, MOQ, fulfillment, product-rationalization, demand-planning, purchasing, inventory-turn, and working-capital improvements.
  • Lead budget and forecast mechanics under the CFO, including income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, inventory, headcount, capex, and actual-to-plan analysis; identify drivers and corrective actions.
  • Model new products, pricing, provider partnerships, distribution, expansion, staffing, and capital investment; report profitability by SKU, line, customer, provider program, partner, channel, and business unit; maintain decision-oriented dashboards for margin, inventory, returns, chargebacks, DSO, working capital, cash conversion, and forecast accuracy; partner across Sales, Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain, Clinical, and leadership.
  • Oversee daily cash, banking, receipts, disbursements, liquidity, rolling cash forecasts, bank access/approvals/fraud controls, processor settlements/reserves/fees/chargebacks/delays, debt and covenant reporting, financing, lender/investor requests, and working-capital opportunities.
  • Design, document, implement, and monitor private-company controls, segregation of duties, compensating controls, and delegated authority. Control vendor changes, purchasing, payments, bank access, credits/refunds, journals, payroll changes, inventory adjustments, cards, and system access; safeguard confidential financial, employee, customer, provider, and commercial information; identify fraud, financial, and operational risks and support insurance renewals, claims, and risk assessments.
  • Partner with IT/system owners on access, data integrity, change control, backups, and security. Evaluate and integrate accounting/ERP, inventory, e-commerce, merchant, payroll, expense, CRM, fulfillment, banking, and reporting systems; set master-data standards; automate work, shorten close, reduce errors, and lead/support implementations, upgrades, integrations, migrations, documentation, reconciliations, and scalable processes for new products, entities, locations, channels, and partnerships.
  • From a financial-control perspective, support Quality and Operations with traceability, inventory disposition, returns, replacements, recalls, samples, warranties, and quality reserves; control provider, office, distributor, referral/marketing-partner, and other third-party financial arrangements and related reporting for payments, transfers of value, samples, rebates, and discounts. Coordinate protected-data controls with Privacy, Compliance, and IT; assess accounting, accrual, reserve, and leadership-disclosure implications of regulatory/quality matters; support regulatory, quality, and customer audits. Clinical, quality, privacy, legal, and regulatory ownership remains with the relevant functional leaders.

Review filings and adviser work; manage relationships with CPAs, tax advisers, auditors, payroll providers, brokers, banks, and other professionals.
  • Lead, develop, and hold accountable external accounting service providers; build a scalable accounting organization; model accuracy, responsiveness, ethics, service, and continuous improvement; serve as an independent, trusted financial partner and lead cross-functional work.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or closely related field; 5–7 years of progressive experience, including Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Director, or comparable leadership responsibility.
  • Strong GAAP knowledge and demonstrated ownership of close, financial statements, reconciliations, audits, policies, controls, payroll accounting, tax coordination, cash, AP/AR, and technical-accounting research and documentation.
  • Meaningful physical-product inventory and cost-accounting experience, including product/landed cost, reserves, returns, rebates, discounts, commissions, and gross-margin analysis; multi-channel experience spanning DTC/e-commerce and B2B, wholesale, provider, or distributor sales.
  • Experience supervising employees or third-party providers; advanced Excel skills for models, analysis, reconciliations, and reporting; ERP/accounting-system experience and integrations with inventory, e-commerce, payroll, or merchant platforms.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, documentation, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to explain finance to non-financial audiences, protect confidential information, work on-site in Riverton, and manage competing priorities in a rapidly evolving environment.
