Scope of Position
Reporting to the Manufacturing Operations Finance Director, the Controller is responsible for financial oversight and management of Watts’ manufacturing facility located in Franklin, NH. This individual will manage the accounting, planning & analysis, budgeting, cost records, and internal control requirements of the site. This role will support the Plant Manager and drive business/manufacturing results by partnering with the Site Management team.
This role relies heavily on analytical abilities and experience to sort through complex data and prepare meaningful information to assist management with decision making, accounting deliverables, and business performance metrics and reports. As a member of both the Site Manufacturing leadership team and the Regional Operations Finance team, the Controller will work cross functionally to identify areas of improvement in processes and operations.
This position is fully onsite, 5 days a week in Franklin, NH and has 3-4 direct reports.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities
Manage plant accounting/cost accounting, financial planning & analysis, and financial reporting responsibilities.
Work closely as the financial business partner to the Plant Manager to identify and measure ways for improving the profitability of the business.
Collaborate with business and human resources teams to drive workforce planning initiatives at the site.
Monitor, analyze, investigate, and report variances to standard, budget, and prior periods, as well as recommend corrective/ improvement actions.
Manage the development of annual operating plan and multi-year strategic plans.
Develop and maintain accurate standard costs.
Perform product costing and profitability analysis, including make/buy assessments.
Perform month-end financial close including journal entries, account reconciliations, payroll, etc.
Perform month-end reporting and analysis activities, including preparing MOR presentations and departmental operating reviews
Prepare weekly financial performance projections as well as quarterly forecast updates.
Compile, maintain, and review operation metrics (KPI’s) for Site Management.
Analyze capital investment requests and ensure appropriate returns on investment while managing risks.
Coordinate inventory cycle count program, audit results, and ensure overall program compliance
Ensure maintenance of accurate and complete financial records in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, GAAP, and Watts Accounting Policies and Procedures.
Ensure a strong system of internal controls exists and is properly monitored.
Provide financial measurement support for site projects (i.e. VAVE, Productivity, Cost Reduction, etc.)
Provide leadership and career development for direct and indirect reports. Effectively manage all leadership requirements for Watts’ performance management processes.
Required Qualifications
BS/BA in Accounting or Finance. CPA or MBA preferred.
10+ years’ experience in a leadership role in finance or accounting at a manufacturing company.
Thorough knowledge of financial performance drivers, accounting principles, procedures and systems with a solid understanding of accounting and internal controls.
Demonstrated ability to research, retrieve, organize, and summarize data to prepare reports, financial journal entries, and financial analysis and communicating financial information to various levels of management.
Exceptional strategic thinking and analytical skills, with a demonstrated ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights.
Advanced finance business partnering experience with the ability to use data to drive financial insights and business decisions.
Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to lead, mentor and drive team development and growth.
Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
Ability to interface and work effectively with business partners
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Experience with ERP and financial systems; SAP, PowerBI and Hyperion are a plus.

Working Conditions
While performing the job duties, you will be working on-site at a manufacturing facility and will perform the majority of your duties in an office environment. You may, at times, be required to be present on the manufacturing floor and will be required to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment. You will be required to work in the office at the Franklin, NH location (Monday – Friday). Your scheduled work hours will be communicated to you by your manager.
