Job Summary and Qualifications Month-End Close Process: Prepare and review journal entries, perform analysis to ensure the general ledger is materially correct (and reliably reflects the financial position of the hospital), and ensure completion of Monthly Operating Review (MOR) reports. Reconciliations: Ensure all balance sheet reconciliations are completed and/or reviewed within Division-mandated deadlines. Budget: Oversee development and completion of the annual budget. Medicare Cost Report: Oversee the preparation of the annual Medicare Cost Report workpapers, working with Corporate Reimbursement personnel to ensure timely completion. Tax Workpapers: Oversee the completion of the annual tax workpaper package. VHI: Oversee the completion of the annual Virginia Health Information (VHI) filing. Accounting Guidance: Maintain a thorough understanding of HCA Accounting Policy Guides (APG's) as well as any external financial pronouncements relevant to hospital accounting. Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX): Ensure compliance with all HCA SOX Key Controls, completion of the quarterly SOX Key Controls Checklist, and stay abreast of any changes required by Corporate. Internal Controls: Assist in completing the semi-annual internal controls checklist, and ensure the hospital has sound internal controls in place and that policies and systems are established and continually updated as required by Corporate or as evident in observed surroundings. Fixed Assets: Maintain accurate fixed asset records, ensuring that capital equipment is properly recorded in the FAS system in accordance with APG and SOX requirements. Financial Support: Provide assistance to department leaders in analyzing financial data and reports (e.g., DOR's) and in resolving issues such as outstanding invoices and missing departmental statistics. Additionally, prepare various daily, weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reports. Subsidiary Financials: Ensure all journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations are completed and that the general ledger is properly maintained for all subsidiary entities.
