Experience:
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including prior experience in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or senior accounting leadership role.

Core Responsibilities

General Ledger & Financial Reporting
  • Own all aspects of the general ledger including Chart of Accounts maintenance, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close processes
  • Prepare and present accurate, timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP/FASB standards
  • Oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, sales order processing, and financial forecasting
  • Establish, monitor, and continuously improve internal control policies and procedures
  • Lead the accounting function in a broad, multifunctional environment; this role requires depth across all accounting disciplines rather than narrow specialization
Systems, Technology & Data Management
  • Demonstrate outstanding proficiency in Microsoft Excel including pivot tables, advanced formulas, macros, data extraction and manipulation, data importing, and business intelligence functions
  • Serve as a power user and system administrator for accounting and payroll software; experience with ADP and MAS 100 strongly preferred
  • Configure, customize, and optimize accounting systems to support operational and reporting needs
  • Note: AI tools are currently prohibited due to strict confidentiality obligations
Compliance, Regulatory & Payroll
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards (GAAP/FASB) and internal control frameworks
  • Manage payroll compliance including federal and multi-state labor regulations, tax deadlines, and tax installment obligations
  • Maintain licensing compliance and stay current on evolving regulatory requirements
  • Oversee mandatory cybersecurity compliance obligations; experience in industries with strict privacy and cybersecurity requirements is required (e.g., financial services, healthcare, DOD/government contracting)
Contract Review & Negotiation
  • Review, negotiate, and manage detailed legal and commercial agreements including long-term sales contracts, supplier contracts, and lease documents
  • Evaluate financial value and risk exposure of contract clauses including indemnity provisions, payment terms, and liability structures
  • Support management in commercial contract strategy; the company operates under Firm Fixed Price commercial contracts with both commercial and government buyers and does not maintain a DCAA-approved cost accounting system

Additional Requirements

  • Verifiable career performance required; must be able to provide references from direct supervisors and senior management at each prior employer
  • Must consent to and pass an extensive background check including criminal, financial, drug and alcohol, and social media screening due to access to government CUI data and sensitive financial records
  • Demonstrated experience in environments with strict privacy, confidentiality, and cybersecurity obligations
  • High degree of professionalism, discretion, and integrity; this role has access to the organization's most sensitive financial and operational information
