Our corporate headquarters is located in Greenville, SC, and we're proud to say that IPS Packaging & Automation is integral to the packaging processes of a wide variety of different businesses and manufacturing facilities across the United States.Position SummaryThe Controller is a key finance leader who partners closely with the Chief Financial Officer to ensure the company's financial reporting is accurate, timely, and reliable. This role oversees the full monthly, quarterly, and annual close and financial reporting process and plays a critical part in maintaining the integrity of the company's financial information. In addition to owning the general ledger structure, accounting policies, and internal controls, the Controller leads the Accounting team and provides both strategic direction and hands-on leadership. This position offers the opportunity to strengthen processes, support business decision-making, and help build scalable financial practices as the organization grows.ResponsibilitiesLead the end-to-end monthly close process, including the review and reconciliation of all general ledger accounts, to ensure accurate and timely financial resultsPrepare, review, and distribute monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for internal and external stakeholders, including required lender and bank reportingManage and mentor the Accounting team, setting clear priorities and ensuring deadlines and service-level expectations are consistently metServe as a trusted financial resource to senior leadership by providing insight into financial results, variance analysis, and ad hoc reportingOversee payroll processing for hourly, salaried, and commissioned employees, including administration of commission structures and calculationsManage daily corporate banking activities, including cash monitoring, ACH and wire transfers, and treasury-related supportOversee sales tax, IFTA, and other regulatory filings and reporting on a monthly and annual basisSupport the development and ongoing management of annual budgets, forecasts, and resource planning initiativesCoordinate all audit, tax, and financial review activities, acting as the primary liaison with external auditors and third-party advisorsIdentify opportunities to enhance accounting processes, systems, and workflows to improve efficiency and accuracyPartner with the CFO on special projects, strategic initiatives, and process improvementsPerform other duties and support initiatives as assigned by senior managementQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required.CPA with a public accounting foundation required.5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Controller‑level or comparable leadership responsibility, ideally in distribution, manufacturing, or inventory‑intensive environments.Strong expertise in inventory accounting, cost accounting, and gross margin analysis, with a proven ability to improve close processes and move toward an audit‑ready environment.Hands‑on leader comfortable owning transactional accounting while building scalable processes to support growth and potential acquisitions.Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, or FP&A activities is a plus.ERP experience required (Epicor preferred), along with advanced Excel skills.Ability to collaborate effectively with operations and sales in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment while leading and developing a team.Why Join IPS Packaging & Automation?Employee events and celebrations.Competitive benefits package, including: 401(k) match with 50 cents per dollar for the first 6% of salary, up to a maximum of $5,000 matched.Comprehensive medical coverage, telemedicine, FSA/HSA options.Dental, vision, life, and disability insurance.Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for personal and professional support.Two months of premium-free medical insurance for 2026.Other supplemental benefits.Three weeks of vacation plus PTO.
