Job Details

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Controller to lead all accounting and financial operations for a mission-driven organization. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, overseeing day-to-day accounting functions, and providing financial insights that support organizational growth and decision-making. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with a strong background in financial management, compliance, budgeting, and team development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all accounting operations, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
  • Prepare, analyze, and present accurate financial statements and management reports.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and long-range financial plans.
  • Monitor cash flow and financial performance to support operational and strategic objectives.
  • Establish, maintain, and strengthen internal controls to safeguard organizational assets.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Coordinate external audits and serve as the primary contact for auditors.
  • Partner with executive leadership to provide financial analysis, recommendations, and strategic guidance.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting efficiency, and operational effectiveness.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Several years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including leadership experience as a Controller or in a similar financial management role.
  • Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Experience developing and maintaining internal controls, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting financial audits.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to mentor teams, prioritize workloads, and drive results.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to translate financial information for non-financial stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills preferred.
  • Experience within healthcare, senior services, nonprofit, or other mission-driven organizations is a plus.
