Position Overview

Pathway Talent Partners is partnering with a confidential, growth-oriented organization to identify a Controller who will serve as a key financial leader within the business. This individual will be responsible for overseeing all accounting functions, ensuring financial accuracy, and delivering insights that support strategic decision-making and long-term growth.

The Controller will play a central role in strengthening financial integrity, enhancing operational efficiency, and developing a high-performing accounting team. This leader will also drive internal controls, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes, operating with a high level of precision, professionalism, and business partnership.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead all core accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP
  • Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, providing clear insights to support executive leadership
  • Own the annual budgeting process, including ongoing forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modeling
  • Design, implement, and maintain strong internal control frameworks to safeguard assets and ensure audit readiness
  • Partner closely with executive leadership to align financial strategy with organizational goals and growth initiatives
  • Oversee cash flow management to ensure optimal liquidity and financial health
  • Manage relationships with external partners including auditors, tax advisors, and banking institutions
  • Perform Work-in-Progress (WIP) analysis to support accurate revenue recognition and project costing
  • Leverage accounting systems to enhance reporting, visibility, and efficiency
  • Identify and drive process improvements to scale the finance function and improve accuracy
  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members to foster a high-performance culture
  • Support additional financial and operational initiatives as needed

Skills & Competencies
  • Strong foundation in GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
  • Ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights for non-financial stakeholders
  • Proven cross-functional collaboration and executive communication skills
  • Highly analytical with strong attention to detail and organizational ability
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Advanced proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with demonstrated leadership
  • Prior Controller experience preferred (or 5+ years as an Accounting Manager)
  • Experience in construction, project-based, or building services environments highly desirable
  • Demonstrated success managing audits, financial reporting, and WIP schedules

  • Location: Confidential (details shared during process)
  • Compensation: $150,000 – $180,000 base salary (plus potential additional incentives)
  • Travel: Minimal, as needed
  • Work Environment: Standard office setting
