Controller – Growing Professional Services Firm

Overview
A rapidly growing professional services firm is seeking a dynamic and hands-on Controller to lead and scale the accounting and finance function. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys building processes, and wants to grow alongside an evolving organization.

This position offers the opportunity to partner directly with leadership, influence strategic decisions, and help drive operational and financial excellence across the business.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting
  • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash flow, and budgeting/forecasting processes
  • Maintain and improve internal controls, policies, and procedures
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and management reports
  • Partner with leadership to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making
  • Drive process improvements, automation, and efficiency across accounting workflows
  • Support audits, tax filings, and external financial relationships (banks, advisors, etc.)
  • Lead and mentor accounting staff while building scalable infrastructure for growth
  • Assist with system optimization and reporting enhancements, including QuickBooks
Qualifications
  • 5–10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience
  • Prior experience in a Controller or senior-level accounting role
  • Strong hands-on experience with QuickBooks
  • Background in industries such as manufacturing, distribution, food & beverage, or similar operational environments is highly preferred
  • Experience with multi-entity or multi-location operations is a plus
  • CPA 
  • Proven ability to operate both strategically and tactically
