Controller

We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead accounting operations for a growing manufacturing and distribution business in the Houston area. This is an on-site leadership role for a CPA who can manage people, strengthen accounting processes, support financial reporting, and partner closely with senior leadership.

This position reports to executive finance leadership and will oversee a team of 6–7 direct reports.

What You’ll Do

• Lead daily accounting operations, month-end close, reconciliations, reporting, and financial controls
• Manage, coach, and develop the accounting team while helping rebuild a strong on-site department culture
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and performance reporting
• Support inventory accounting, cost analysis, and operational financial visibility
• Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, approval processes, and compliance procedures
• Partner with operations and leadership to improve reporting, systems, and business insight
• Help support future ERP and operating system enhancements
• Prepare accurate financial information for senior leadership and corporate reporting needs

What You’ll Bring

• Active CPA license required, no exceptions
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a closely related field required
• Strong accounting leadership experience in manufacturing, distribution, metals, or a related environment
• Inventory accounting experience required
• Experience managing direct reports and building accountability within an accounting team
• Public accounting background is helpful
• Strong Excel, reporting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Stable work history with a track record of long-term commitment and progression
• Must be able to work fully on-site in Houston, TX
