Description

About Us:
The Caturus platform was founded by Kimmeridge, an alternative asset manager focused on the energy sector, with subsequent additional investment by Mubadala Energy.  Caturus is building an independent, fully integrated natural gas and LNG export platform in the U.S. through a combination of its upstream operations and Commonwealth LNG, a 9.5 Mtpa LNG export terminal in southwestern Louisiana.  Together, they will provide low-cost energy on demand with the lowest carbon footprint.

Job Description

The LNG Controller will serve as the financial steward for a liquified natural gas export project located in Cameron Parish Louisiana. The project reached Final Investment Decision in Q2 2026 and has begun construction, which is anticipated to take approximately four years before reaching commercial operations.  This role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations for the LNG business and maintaining a robust internal controls framework. In addition, the LNG Controller will be responsible for the timely preparation of GAAP compliant stand-alone monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for three Commonwealth entities and will coordinate with the Chief Accounting Officer (“CAO”) for Commonwealth’s parent company, Caturus, LLC (“Caturus”) in support of timely and accurate consolidated financial reporting for Caturus. The successful candidate thrives in an environment where processes are being built and refined in real time and is energized by the opportunity to scale a best-in-class accounting function.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead the month-end, quarter-end and annual close processes and prepare accurate and timely GAAP compliant financial statements
  • Maintain compliance with investor, lender, and governance reporting requirements
  • Coordinate with the finance department to maintain project-level budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
  • Monitor actual project costs versus budget and investigate variances
  • Coordinate with the tax department to navigate applicable tax and regulatory requirements
  • Develop scalable processes to support increased transaction volume
  • Manage the external auditor relationship for Commonwealth LNG
  • In coordination with the CAO and Director of Internal Audit for Caturus, develop and ensure compliance with internal controls for Commonwealth LNG
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to ensure financial alignment with construction progress
  • Support development of monthly financial reporting packages for senior management and investors
  • Lead and mentor a growing LNG accounting team
  • Assist in the evaluation, selection and implementation of new financial systems or project accounting tools to support scalable and integrated reporting
