Controller

KLR Executive Search is partnering with a growing, privately held distribution organization to identify its Controller, who will serve as a key accounting leader reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer and partnering closely with executive and operational leadership. This strategic, hands-on leader will own the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting functions, lead the organization’s transition to full U.S. GAAP compliance, strengthen close, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis capabilities, and build the financial infrastructure needed to support continued growth within a complex, high-SKU, inventory-intensive environment.

Key Responsibilities Include:

\n

• \n
• Direct all accounting and financial reporting activities in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• \n
• Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and supporting accounting records.
• \n
• Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, cash management, fixed assets, and broader accounting operations.
• \n
• Lead inventory and cost accounting, including valuation, reserves, reconciliations, product costing, gross margin analysis, physical inventory, and cycle-count controls.
• \n
• Prepare annual budgets, periodic forecasts, working-capital analyses, and budget-to-actual reporting.
• \n
• Coordinate the annual financial statement audit and serve as the primary contact for external auditors.

Key Qualifications:

\n

• \n
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• \n
• Five to ten years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility.
• \n
• Significant hands-on knowledge of U.S. GAAP; CPA preferred but not required.
• \n
• Strong inventory accounting experience in a distribution, wholesale, manufacturing, or similarly complex inventory environment.

Compensation

\n

The expected base salary range is $170K-$ 180K.
