Controller/Senior Accountant (Manufacturing)

Location: Newport, DE

Overview:
Seeking an Accountant/Comptroller who would perform accounting duties and supervise 2 direct reports, interact with our CPA monthly, as well as interfacing with them for audits and annual financial reporting. Desiring a candidate with Sage, Procore, and construction/manufacturing operations experience. ERP implementation experience a plus.

Responsibilities:

Financial Leadership
* Manage accounting staff
* Establish accounting policies
* Approve journal entries
* Oversee month-end close
* Ensure GAAP compliance
* Lead annual audits

Construction Financial Management
* Own WIP reporting
* Oversee percentage-of-completion revenue recognition
* Review project profitability
* Monitor backlog profitability
* Evaluate under-billings and overbillings
* Manage cash flow forecasting

Management Reporting
Provide leadership with:
* Monthly financial statements
* KPI dashboards
* Cash flow forecasts
* Job profitability reports
* Equipment utilization reporting
* Labor productivity metrics

Risk Management
* Internal controls
* Fraud prevention
* Bonding support
* Banking relationships
* Insurance renewals
* Tax strategy coordination

Working With Operations
Partner with:
* Project Managers
* Estimators
* Operations Manager
* Fabrication Shop Manager
* President/Owner
Typical responsibilities include:
* Reviewing large change orders
* Monitoring job burn rates
* Reviewing contract risks
* Forecasting project margins
* Identifying troubled jobs early

Technology Ownership
Owns financial systems:
* Sage ERP Financials
* Procore
* Payroll systems
* Equipment costing systems
* Financial reporting tools




Qualifications & Skills

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; MBA is a plus.
- 10+ years of finance/accounting experience, including 5+ years in leadership.
- Experience supporting manufacturing/construction operations.
- Experience with SAGE, Procore, and payroll systems.
- Strong expertise in:
-Financial planning & analysis (FP&A)
-Operational and cost accounting
-Budgeting
-Forecasting
-GAAP
-P&L leadership to drive business performance
-Working with CPA, operations, president, project managers, estimators, etc.
-ERP implementation experience is a plus
