    Arnie Bauer Automotive Group is seeking an experienced, driven, and detail-oriented Controller to replace our retiring Controller. You will.oversee all accounting and financial operations for our dealerships.  This position plays a critical leadership role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, supporting department managers, and helping drive the overall financial success of the organization.

    The ideal candidate will have strong automotive dealership accounting experience, exceptional organizational skills, leadership ability, and a proactive approach to improving processes and profitability.

    Responsibilities

    • Prepare month-end, quarterly, and year-end financial documents and closing processes
    • Ensure all accounting transactions are properly recorded and reconciled
    • Prepare and review complete financial statements including:
      • Income Statements
      • Balance Sheets
      • Cash Flow Statements
    • Ensure financial statements are accurate, complete, and submitted within established manufacturer and management timelines
    • Oversee floor plan reconciliations, general ledger accuracy, and end-of-month closing procedures
    • Interpret and analyze financial statements to identify trends and opportunities
    • Keep the General Manager informed regarding financial trends, cash flow, and operational performance
    • Develop and maintain an effective cash management system
    • Work closely with department managers to help them understand financial reports and create action plans to improve performance
    • Identify opportunities to improve revenue and reduce expenses in order to meet or exceed budget goals
    • Ensure adherence to best accounting practices, dealership policies, and internal control procedures
    • Oversee the dealership accounting office, systems, and personnel
    • Recruit, develop, train, and retain high-performing office staff
    • Ensure all payroll and Human Resources functions are operating effectively and accurately
    • Prepare and submit required financial statements, reports, and manufacturer reporting
    • Safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with internal accounting controls
    • Respond promptly to requests for financial information and operational support
    • Assist ownership and management with forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning

    Qualifications

    • Previous Automotive Dealership Controller experience preferred
    • Strong understanding of dealership financial operations and accounting practices
    • Experience with dealership management systems preferred
    • Strong knowledge of:
      • General Ledger
      • Floor Planning
      • Bank Reconciliations
      • Financial Statement Preparation
      • Payroll & HR Processes
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
    • High level of integrity and professionalism
