Controller

Vista Metals, Inc. is an established tungsten carbide manufacturing company located in Elizabeth Township, PA. We are seeking a capable, hands-on Controller to lead and manage our accounting function. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to take full ownership of financial operations in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will be comfortable balancing high-level financial strategy-such as translating complex financial numbers for leadership-with day-to-day manufacturing accounting and benefits administration.

Job Summary

The Controller will direct the organization's accounting practices, maintain fiscal records, and serve as a key financial advisor to the leadership team. This position is responsible for job costing precision, internal controls, annual forecasting, budgetary management, and the oversight of accounting staff. Additionally, this role owns the administration and renewal strategy for company benefits, including health care and the 401k plan.

Key Responsibilities

Job Costing & Manufacturing Accounting

• Prepare and analyze comprehensive financial statements (income, expenses, cash flow, and earnings) based on past, present, and expected operations.
• Deliver clear, actionable financial insights to the leadership team, translating complex data into strategic recommendations for company growth.
• Maintain and optimize job costing metrics to provide the Sales and Leadership teams with precise data for customer pricing and company profitability.
• Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting processes
• Collaborate with the Sales Manager in maintaining updated costing and pricing metrics to provide the Sales Team with reliable metric for customer pricing and company profitability.
• Collaborate with the IT Manager and General Manager to enhance operational tracking, production costing accuracy, and ERP reporting systems.

Benefits Administration & HR Support

• Manage the annual health care renewal process, evaluating plans to optimize coverage and cost-effectiveness for the company and employees.
• Oversee 401k plan administration, including enrollment, contribution processing, compliance testing, and annual reporting.
• Coordinate business insurance renewals and ensure compliance with all state and federal financial regulations.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in accounting and solid progressive accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment. This person should be comfortable in a hands-on Controller role where they are responsible for both managing the accounting function and directly supporting key day-to-day accounting activities.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience required, with clear experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Strong expertise in manufacturing job costing and inventory accounting (standard costing, variance analysis).
• Proven experience managing employee benefits, specifically health care renewals and 401k plan administration.
• Exceptional communication skills, with a track record of effectively presenting financial data to management and business owners.
• Prior experience as a Controller, Accounting Manager, or Senior Accountant.
• Advanced proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
