Dupuy is currently seeking a Controller for our NOLA office. The Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial activities of the organization, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. This position leads the accounting function, develops and maintains financial policies and internal controls, and provides strategic financial guidance to executive leadership to support the company's growth and profitability.

Essential Functions

 

  • Prepare and issue accurate, timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Develop, calculate, and report key financial and operational performance metrics.
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support capital investments, pricing strategies, budgeting, forecasting, and contract negotiations.
  • Establish, implement, and enforce company policies related to accounting, finance, internal controls, and cost management.
  • Identify financial risks and opportunities and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Develop and recommend financial and operational benchmarks to measure organizational performance.
  • Build and maintain relationships with banks, lenders, and other financial institutions to support financing needs and capital availability.
  • Monitor debt obligations and ensure compliance with loan agreements and financial covenants.
  • Partner with the Accounts Payable function to ensure timely vendor payments while maintaining adequate cash flow for operating expenses and debt service.
  • Partner with the Accounts Receivable function to ensure timely collections and appropriate escalation of delinquent accounts.
  • Coordinate the annual external audit by preparing schedules, responding to auditor requests, and collaborating with internal departments to ensure timely completion.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal reporting requirements, including tax filings.
  • Oversee timely and accurate bank reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources on payroll processing, employee compensation matters, benefits accounting, and related compliance.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff while fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • CPA certification and/or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred.
  • Five or more years of progressive accounting leadership experience, including experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller, preferably within a mid-sized manufacturing or distribution organization.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), financial reporting, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with ERP and financial management systems (such as NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, or similar). Experience with QuickBooks is a plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial and personnel information.
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to build positive working relationships across all levels of the organization.

The Controller is responsible for coaching, performance management, training, and ensuring the efficient operation of the accounting department.

 

Working conditions

This position is primarily office-based but will periodically support operations within a warehouse environment. The warehouse has a moderate noise level, and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn when required. Office hours Monday thru Friday 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, some occasional work on weekends may be required.
