Description

Financial Controller – Specialty Finance & Alternative Lending

Location: New York, NY (Financial District)

About Our Client & Markets Served
We are a premier, tech-enabled specialty finance firm that is passionately committed to revolutionizing how businesses access critical working capital. By pairing deep institutional expertise with advanced, custom technology, we deliver highly customized non-bank financing solutions that empower small and mid-sized businesses across the country.

As a trusted leader in the specialty finance space, our diversified capital platform supports an array of high-demand alternative financing products.

We are seeking a highly motivated, growth-minded Financial Controller to step into an upgraded, high-impact seat within our corporate finance group. You will serve as a vital strategic partner, taking complete ownership of the full accounting cycle, optimizing our internal infrastructure, and helping build out a forward-looking capital markets and corporate FP&A framework.

Three Awesome Reasons to Work Here:
•    Join a Premier Reputation & Culture: Step into an elite, institutional platform built on professionalism and sophisticated underwriting. We take pride in maintaining a highly collaborative, polished environment where compliance, data integrity, and professional execution are standard across the entire office ecosystem.
•    Fuel Rapid Growth: We are a fast-moving market leader riding a wave of massive platform expansion. Our executive leadership team is entirely aligned on an aggressive strategic roadmap to double the firm's portfolio size and overall organizational footprint within the next three to five years.
•    Uncapped Career Trajectory: This is not a static, back-office box. You will work side-by-side with a dynamic CFO on high-impact initiatives, positioning you as a clear financial leader inside the company. The role offers direct exposure to capital markets, lending partners, and strategic corporate scaling, serving as an exceptional launchpad for your long-term executive career.

What You Will Be Doing:
•    Own the Core Financial Close: Lead and optimize the complete month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring absolute precision across the general ledger, reconciliations, and complex revenue recognition compliant with GAAP.
•    Drive Strategic FP&A & Capital Markets: Direct the annual budgeting process, maintain rolling departmental forecasts, and collaborate closely with the CFO to build predictive financial models focused on portfolio performance, cost-control metrics, and equity trends.
•    Provide an Immediate Technology Lift: Evaluate and upgrade our current accounting infrastructure, implementing tech-forward tools and integrations to streamline heavy alternative finance transaction volume and automate data pipelines.
•    Manage and Scale Global Teams: Oversee corporate accounting operations and coordinate project workflows, effectively leveraging and leading both domestic staff and our specialized offshore back-office operations.
•    Direct Audits & Compliance Reporting: Act as the primary point of contact for external audits, bank collateral examinations, and tax preparation while maintaining a bulletproof framework of internal controls.

What You Need for This Position:
•    Experience: 8 to 15 years of progressive accounting and financial leadership experience, blending institutional rigor with fast-paced corporate execution.
•    The Target Hybrid Background: A strong foundation in formal public accounting or corporate audit, paired with a successful transition into internal corporate accounting, complex financial reporting, and FP&A functions.
•    Technical & Industry Acumen: Strong proficiency in GAAP, multi-departmental budgeting, and sophisticated financial modeling. Prior exposure to transactional accounting, specialty finance, asset-based lending, or corporate banking is a major asset. Strong background in FP&A.
•    Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a highly related technical discipline; a CPA or advanced accounting certification is highly preferred.

What's In It for You:
In addition to an elite platform and a direct executive trajectory, we offer a competitive compensation structure including a $150,000 – $200,000 base salary (commensurate with experience), performance-based bonus opportunities, and a comprehensive benefits package featuring top-tier medical coverage, a retirement savings plan, and generous paid time off.
