Job DetailsWe are seeking an experienced, hands-on Corporate Controller to lead the accounting and financial reporting functions for a publicly traded organization.
This position will report directly to the CFO and currently oversee two accounting professionals. The ideal candidate will have strong public-company accounting experience and be comfortable operating in a lean environment where they can provide leadership while remaining actively involved in the details.
Responsibilities will include:
Lead monthly, quarterly and annual close processes
Own financial statement preparation and reporting
Lead SEC reporting, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q and 8-K
Ensure compliance with US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
Research and resolve complex technical accounting matters
Lead SOX 404(a) compliance and internal controls over financial reporting
Maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures and documentation
Coordinate external audits and serve as a primary contact for external auditors
Oversee general ledger accounting, revenue recognition, AP, AR, payroll and related accounting functions
Manage and develop accounting staff
Oversee tax compliance and coordinate with external tax advisors
Manage treasury, cash forecasting, banking relationships and liquidity planning
Participate in budgeting, forecasting and long-range financial planning
Prepare financial analysis and actual-to-budget reporting
Partner with leadership on pricing, contracts, cost management and other business decisions
Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls and system efficiencies
Remain hands-on and willing to assist with day-to-day accounting activities as needed
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
CPA required
Public company experience required
SEC reporting experience required
7+ years of progressive accounting experience
Leadership experience within an accounting function
Strong knowledge of US GAAP
Experience with SOX and internal controls
Public accounting experience strongly preferred
Previous Controller or similar accounting leadership experience preferred
Comfortable working within a small, lean accounting environment
Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
