QES is seeking an experienced Controller to play a critical role in guiding our financial operations and supporting our mission of delivering exceptional engineering, surveying, program management, and landscape architecture services. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a strategic, hands-on accounting professional who thrives in a collaborative, values-driven environment.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and job costing
  • Prepare accurate financial statements, forecasts, and performance metrics for leadership
  • Lead budgeting, cash flow planning, and financial analysis to support strategic decisions
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Coordinate audits, tax filings, and external financial reporting
  • Partner with project managers to monitor budgets, billing, and profitability
  • Mentor and lead accounting staff, fostering a culture of accuracy and accountability
  • Drive continuous improvement in accounting systems, processes, and reporting

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA strongly preferred)
  • 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3–5 years in a Controller or senior leadership role
  • Experience in the AEC or professional services industry preferred
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, compliance, and financial reporting
  • Proficiency with accounting software (Deltek Ajera a plus) and MS Office
  • Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills
