CFS is partnering to identify a seasoned Controller to lead financial operations for a well-established nonprofit organization serving the Providence community. This role offers a hybrid work environment, with regular in-office presence in Providence required.

The Controller will oversee the full accounting function and provide hands-on leadership in a mission-driven, service-oriented environment with meaningful impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting
• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Lead, mentor, and supervise accounting staff, providing day-to-day guidance and development
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and regulatory requirements
• Coordinate and lead annual audits and serve as primary point of contact with external auditors
• Strengthen internal controls, policies, and procedures

As Controller, you will partner closely with executive leadership to support sound financial stewardship and organizational sustainability.

Qualifications

• Required experience within a nonprofit organization
• Demonstrated supervisory and people-management experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting practices
• Experience owning accounting operations in a complex environment
• Ability to work collaboratively with both financial and non-financial stakeholders

The Controller must bring both technical expertise and leadership capability to support a growing and impactful organization.

Compensation & Work Environment

• Salary range: $110,000–$150,000, commensurate with experience
• Hybrid schedule with in-office work in Providence, RI
• Competitive benefits package
