About the Opportunity
We are a growing, privately held service-based organization operating in the skilled trades space, with a strong local presence and ambitious growth plans. We are seeking a hands-on Controller to take full ownership of accounting and finance operations for one of our operating entities, while helping guide the organization through an exciting growth period.
This role offers true end-to-end financial responsibility, visibility to leadership, and the opportunity to help build scalable processes as the company expands.
Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary: $150,000-170,000
Annual Bonus: 10-15% (based on company performance)

Position Overview
The Controller will oversee all accounting and financial activities for the organization, owning the full accounting lifecycle and serving as a key partner to operational leadership. This role is ideal for a Controller who enjoys being hands-on while helping a growing business prepare for its next stage.
Current revenue: $22M, with projections to reach $30-40M within one year
Key Responsibilities
Own the full accounting cycle, including:
General ledger and journal entries
Job costing
Accounts receivable and accounts payable oversight
Payroll coordination
Inventory accounting
Lead month-end close with a target 5-day close
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and reporting
Maintain full P&L responsibility for the business
Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
Coordinate audits and tax-related activities
Partner with leadership on financial analysis and decision-making
Support system implementations and process improvements, including:
Help build scalable accounting infrastructure to support continued growth
Participate in planning for future team expansion

What We're Looking For
8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
Strong hands-on accounting background
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Experience in construction, trades, HVAC, plumbing, or service-based industries is strongly preferred
Prior experience managing and developing staff
Comfortable operating in a growing, evolving environment
Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work cross-functionally
