Job DescriptionJob DescriptionOVERVIEWProvides both hands-on general accounting support and overall management of non-profit financials. The Controller contributes to the organization's mission by overseeing all accounting and financial operations of the organization. This senior level position directs and supervises the Assistant Controller-Stores, General Accountant and Senior Finance and Accounting Specialist and provides consultation to Board of Directors and Executive Director/CEO on strategic accounting matters, financial performance and budget. This position plays a leadership role in developing a positive culture with a focus on accuracy.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* Prepare and/or review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements, to provide accurate and timely financial information to management and stakeholders.* Responsible for the management and oversight, as well as hands-on execution of the month-end, quarterly and year-end closing processes, including the review and approval of journal entries and account reconciliations.* Coordinate with the Director of Development and Director of Vincentian Services to ensure accounting for donor funds is appropriate.* Oversee the preparation for, management and coordination of all external audits, working closely with auditors and the Audit Committee to prepare necessary documentation and resolve any audit issues.* Develop, establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard the organization's assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations and accounting standards.* Oversee the budgeting and forecasting processes, collaborating with various departments to ensure financial goals are met; assist with interim budget reviews.* The Controller reports to the Director of Finance with a dotted line to the Executive Director/CEO, and is responsible for and provides guidance, leadership, and training to the accounting team.* Assist in strategic initiatives or special projects as needed.
