Position Overview

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing the daily accounting functions, financial reporting, and compliance for all poultry production and processing operations. This role will also lead budgeting efforts, cost accounting for feed and production, and provide financial insights to guide management decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger management
  • Reconcile accounts and oversee the general ledger to ensure complete and accurate financial records
  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Manage cost accounting for live operations, feed production, and processing facilities
  • Develop, monitor, and analyze production and inventory cost reports
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state agricultural and environmental financial regulations
  • Support external audits and reviews, including coordination with auditors and tax advisors
  • Support accounting functions across multiple related business entities while maintaining consistency in reporting
  • Lead and mentor accounting staff, fostering a culture of accuracy and accountability
  • Collaborate with operations, logistics, and production teams to improve financial performance
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred)
  • Prior experience in agriculture or farming operations is strongly preferred
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft D365 Software or other sophisticated ERP software (Oracle, NetSuite, SAP) is highly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory control, and GAAP
  • Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and manage several responsibilities at once
  • Strong communication and organizational skills suited to a medium-sized, family-owned business environment
