Controller (Pathway to CFO)

Location: Vero Beach, FL

Compensation: Competitive base salary + equity + year-end bonus + healthcare plan

As we prepare to manage debt and equity transactions, we seek a seasoned Controller to join our team, with the potential to transition into a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) role.

Position Overview: The Controller will oversee all financial aspects of the company, ensuring robust financial reporting and operational efficiency. This role requires a leader who thrives in a dynamic, multi-entity environment and has the vision to grow alongside the company. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the behavioral health industry and demonstrate expertise in both cash and accrual accounting, multi-company financial consolidation, and strategic financial planning.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage the preparation of cash and accrual-based financial statements.
• Maintain and consolidate the general ledger for a multi-company structure under a parent holding company.
• Book accrual revenue and manage billing, accounts receivable, and balance sheet reporting.
• Drive financial planning, analysis, and forecasting for the company's debt and equity strategy.
• Implement and optimize accounting software to handle multi-entity environments (Sage, QuickBooks, or equivalent).
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and best practices.
• Provide insights and leadership on managing financial risks, including capital allocation and equity planning.
• Collaborate closely with leadership to support growth strategies, including acquisitions and eventual exit plans.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred).
• 5+ years of relevant experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in the behavioral health or healthcare sector.
• Proven experience with both cash and accrual-based accounting systems.
• Proficiency in managing financial operations in multi-entity environments.
• Familiarity with revenue recognition, billing processes, and balance sheet management.
• Strong understanding of financial software systems (Sage, QuickBooks, or similar).
• Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
• Willingness to work in-office 4 days per week after the initial 5 days during onboarding and trust-building.
