Description

Overview:

We are seeking a hands-on, strategic Controller to oversee our accounting department and financial operations. This role is perfect for a leader who is not afraid to jump in to solve problems, understands the complexities of multi-entity accounting, and is eager to streamline processes. You will manage a dedicated team, work closely with our outsourced accounting partners, and serve as a key business partner to the Executive team.

 

What you'll do for us:

  • Lead the Accounting Department, including outsourced accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Partner with third-party accounting and tax providers to streamline processes and meet critical reporting deadlines.
  • Oversee corporate accounting, including monthly financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and fee billings.
  • Manage year-end financial reporting, tax preparation, and cash-to-accrual conversions.
  • Review trial balances, journal entries, and reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with the CFO on financial planning, forecasting, tax projections, and strategic accounting initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary contact for banking relationships and corporate cash management.
  • Prepare executive financial reports, analyses, and budgeting materials to support business decisions.
  • Lead the financial coordination of acquisitions, dispositions, investor reporting, and ownership requests.
  • Drive continuous process improvements, strengthen internal controls, and partner cross-functionally to support organizational success.
Qualifications:

Must Haves:

  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent presentation and executive communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience leading accounting operations within a multi-entity organization.
  • Strong understanding of partnership accounting, tenancy-in-common (TIC) structures, and complex ownership entities.
  • Experience managing both corporate and property accounting functions.
  • Ability to identify process improvements and successfully implement operational efficiencies.
  • Comfortable making independent decisions while exercising sound financial judgment.

Education and Training:

  • Master’s degree in accounting, finance, Corporate Finance or CPA preferred

Great to haves:

  • Experience with Yardi Voyager strongly preferred
  • Experience with SAP Concur
Compensation:

The compensation for this position is $175,000 - $ 225,000 / year.
