We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Controller to join our team in the Construction industry. The successful candidate will play a critical role in strategic decision-making and operations as they relate to financial management, budget management, cost-benefit analysis, forecasting needs and securing of new funding. Job Details

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and project budgets and actual expenditures.
  • Coordinate all audit activities.
  • Regularly produce financial reports or statements.
  • Implement a robust contracts management and financial management/ reporting system.
  • Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner and accounts receivable are collected promptly.
  • Process payroll in a timely manner and prepare monthly end year closing.
  • Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, upholding federal, state, and local legal standards by remaining knowledgeable about existing, new, and future legislation.
  • Develop and manage financial controls in accordance with the company’s procedures.
  • Communicate financial metrics to senior management and provide advice on how to increase revenue and reduce costs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Experience in the construction industry is highly preferred.
  • Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations.
  • Able to analyze financial records and transfer information.
  • Data analysis and forecasting skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and with computerized accounting systems.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and multiple demands.
  • CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
